The ROC Youth Ministry is committed to local and international missions.
Over the past five years, we have been able to minister all across the world.
We are a purpose-driven ministry. On all of our outreach trips, we strive to fulfill our
purpose, to challenge students in their faith, and to allow them to see how God
uses them to further His Kingdom.
Jamaica 2005 & 2007
In Jamaica we stayed in the mountain city of Mandeville. On this trip, we did a variety of work projects (most involving pouring concrete) to serve the local community and churches. We were able to do street ministry including drama & music. We went to a Government-run veterans community, and also set up five school assemblies where we ministered to thousands of Jamaican students. As always, the end of the week featured a cook-out with the jerk chicken man as a means to reach out to the community through the local church.
Jerusalem Project 2007
In Acts 1:8, Jesus commissioned the disciples to go out into all the world and preach the Good News of Christ. The 1st place on the list of places to go was their hometown-Jerusalem. Our Jerusalem is Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. This summer we began with a week-long mission trip in Winston-Salem, primarily working with a local ministry called Potters House.
Kentucky 1999-2007
Each year we take the 7th & 8th graders to the eastern hills of Kentucky. This trip
is designed as an entry-level missions trip to help students see that the LORD can use them in a multitude of ways.
We do servanthood evangelism, such as building barns, painting houses, repairing roofs, and installing bathrooms.
Normally we will end the week with a community cookout, allowing the students an opportunity to use their talents in music
and drama to present the Gospel.
Argentina
We´ve been to two cities in Argentina including the capitol, Buenos Aires. On this trip we helped remodel a local church. This major renovation helped the church get back on its feet and minister to the local community. The Argentinian people are very social, so we spent most of our time building relationships with the local church and missionaries. We helped the church organize a community outreach street party. A local band played, drawing a large crowd, and the church grew greatly from this event. We also spent time at a local orphanage ministering to the kids and helping with maintenance problems that they were unable to pay for.
Tunica, Mississippi
Tunica, Mississippi was found to be the poorest city in the United States in 1998. This small town is very racially divided. We partnered with Tunica Presbyterian Church, Pastor Kibbler, and a local African-American congregation to do an inter-racial outreach. We worked with a local community center which was in ill-repair; we painted the building and also ran a Vacation Bible School from this facility. Many children came and hearts were changed.
Atlanta
Atlanta is an inner-city missions trip where we travel into the poorest section of the city and do street evangelism and outreach.
We have ministered to drug addicts, prostitutes, and the homeless. We´ve spent alot of time at homeless
shelters performing drama and music at a local church, and have set up community cookouts where the Gospel was shared with
the residents of Atlanta. In the mornings, we also assisted in running a summer camp for under-privileged children.
Our Mission is:
To share the love of Jesus with others,
to help them grow in faith,
to serve and honor God,
and to enjoy our time together.
